ADHD Care Costs & Insurance
Below is a summary of the typical costs for ADHD care in Los Angeles, California and my clinic.
This page includes clear information about evaluation fees, follow-up visits, payment, and out-of-network benefits.
EVALUATION & FOLLOW-UP FEES
Initial evaluation: $1,200 to $1500 (minimum two-hour diagnostic and psychiatric evaluation)
Follow-up visits: $250–$295
Payment only processed after appointment & services rendered unless patient completed during self-schedule.
Please confirm if you have questions about your appointment length and fee before scheduling.
Additional testing and detailed accommodation reports are billed separately. Ask about the scope, preparation time, and charge before requesting these services.
WHAT YOUR EVALUATION INCLUDES
Your consultation with DR Ryan J Kennedy, DNP, FNP-C, PMHS, explores your concerns, history, and everyday functioning. It includes a clinical interview, Brown Attention/Executive Function Rating Scales, memory and cognition measures, and screening for related difficulties.

We discuss the findings and recommendations for next steps. A brief summary is available upon request; extensive written reports carry an additional fee. Patients under 18 attend with a parent or caregiver. Adults are encouraged to bring someone who can offer another perspective.
PAYMENT FOR SERVICES
Our practice provides care on a private-pay basis. Payment is due when services are provided unless another arrangement has been agreed to in writing. We accept credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. Check expense eligibility and documentation requirements with your account administrator.

INSURANCE & SUPERBILLS
We do not accept insurance, including commercial plans, Medicare, or Medicaid. Eligible patients may request a superbill to submit to their insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. A superbill documents services for a claim; it does not guarantee coverage or payment.
Before booking, ask your insurer whether your plan covers out-of-network services with this nurse practitioner, which billing codes are eligible, and whether authorization or a referral is required. Our office can clarify the anticipated billing codes.
HOW REIMBURSEMENT IS CALCULATED
Your insurer may apply its payment percentage to an allowed amount that is lower than the clinic fee. Ask about that amount, your remaining out-of-network deductible, and any additional limits.
Illustration only: If a covered visit costs $300, the allowed amount is $180, and your plan pays 60% after the deductible is met, the estimated reimbursement is $108. Your remaining cost is $192.
This example is not a clinic fee or a prediction of your benefits. It assumes the service is covered, the deductible is satisfied, and no other limits apply. Your insurer determines actual reimbursement.
Do not assume your entire payment counts toward your deductible, or that meeting an in-network deductible satisfies your out-of-network deductible. Confirm the rules for your specific plan.

BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE
1. Confirm the appointment fee and separately billed testing or reports.
2. Check provider eligibility, allowed amounts, and your remaining deductible.
3. Ask about authorization, referrals, claim deadlines, and telehealth rules.
4. Plan for follow-up visits, prescriptions, and any outside testing.
5. Keep your insurer’s answers and a call reference number.
A benefits quote helps you plan but does not guarantee payment. Compare in-network options if private-pay care would strain your budget.
CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING
Please contact our office as soon as possible if you need to change an appointment. Late cancellations and missed visits may incur a charge under our office policies. Confirm the applicable notice period and fee when scheduling.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATES
If you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you can generally receive a Good Faith Estimate when you request one or schedule care at least three business days ahead. It estimates provider charges, not insurance reimbursement.
If a provider’s bill is at least $400 above that provider’s estimate, you may qualify for the federal patient-provider dispute process. Eligibility and deadlines apply.
